Where Tuition Begins

Initial Consultation

Every student is different, which is why tuition begins with an initial consultation involving both the student and their parent or guardian.

The Consultation

Understanding your child, first

The purpose of the consultation is to understand the student's current confidence, strengths, areas for improvement, learning needs and longer-term goals.

We will also discuss any upcoming assessments, SATs or GCSE targets, topics they find difficult, and what they would like to achieve through tuition.

After the consultation, I create a personalised learning plan tailored specifically to the student. This plan is based on the information discussed with both the student and their parents, ensuring everyone is involved in setting realistic and achievable targets.

The Personalised Plan

What the learning plan may include

Key areas of maths that need improvement
Topics to prioritise
Short-term and long-term learning targets
Exam or assessment preparation
Confidence-building goals
Appropriate lesson pace and teaching methods
SEND-related adjustments or additional support where required
Regular progress reviews and updated targets

Parents remain involved throughout the tuition journey. I provide clear communication about what has been covered, progress made, areas that still need attention and the next steps in the student's learning.

The learning plan is not fixed. As the student develops, gains confidence and achieves their targets, the plan can be reviewed and adapted so that tuition continues to meet their individual needs.

The aim is to create a joined-up approach where the tutor, student and parents work together towards the same goals.

The Process

How It Works

From first enquiry to regular progress reviews — a clear, supportive path from start to finish.

Step 1

Initial Enquiry

A parent or guardian completes the contact form with some basic information about the student and the support they are looking for.

Step 2

Consultation

We discuss the student's current situation, strengths, areas for improvement, confidence, school progress and academic targets.

Step 3

Personalised Learning Plan

I create an individual learning plan based on the student's needs and the goals agreed with the student and their parents.

Step 4

Tuition Begins

Lessons are planned around the personalised learning plan, while still allowing flexibility to respond to topics being covered at school or upcoming assessments.

Step 5

Progress Reviews

Progress is regularly reviewed with both the student and their parents, and targets are updated when appropriate.

Student + Parent + Tutor

Working together creates a clearer understanding of what the student needs, where they are heading and how we can help them get there.
